Tips in Paying SSS Contribution with SSS Table

Paying SSS contribution can be difficult at start, since getting to know the amount to pay for your income range needs calculation, as well as knowing the employer share on the contribution. Most of the human resources personnel or some accounting staff might be in charge of paying the contribution of employees of the company. Such task is simplified with the use of tools that help speed-up the process of checking the contribution amount.

What is an SSS contribution table? It is basically a visual aid composed of a table. The table provides pre-computed amount that a particular salary range needs to pay to SSS. It indicates the amount paid by the employer and the employee's share to the contribution. Normally, it is computed manually based on the SSS mandated calculation of employer to employer share.

The use of SSS table is easy. The table is composed of columns that we will discuss below.

Columns of SSS Contribution Table

Range of Compensation - the range is composed of a starting salary or income, and the end of the range where the resulting computation applies.

Social Security EE - it means Employee contribution or your part or share on the total SSS contribution.

Social Security ER - refers to the share of the employer to the total SSS contribution paid to SSS.

EC ER- it is the column that represents contributions for the Employees’ Compensation Program which is a fund for work-related sickness, disability, injury or death which goes to medical benefit, cash income or rehabilitation from the said causes. The EC contribution is a share paid by the employer only to the employee's SSS.

Tips in Paying SSS Contribution with SSS Table

Checking the SSS amount of contribution is easy with SSS table visual aid. The following tip correspond to the procedure of getting the SSS contribution amount.

1. The range of compensation rows refer to the monthly salary or income an employer gets. Hence, if you earn Php 11,000, the row for salary range on the table is "Php10,750.00-Php11,249.99".

2. On the same row where the range for the income is located, the value on EE column is the amount of employee share. Refer to EE column overview above. For example, with salary range Php11,000 it will be Php399.70.

3. Employer share on the contribution is shown on the ER column of the row of your salary range. Example would be Php810.30 for employer.

In case the SSS contributor is a Self-Employed (SE), a Voluntary Member (VM), or an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW), the only column that applies is SE/VM/OFW Total Contribution. Compared to the first 3 steps, there is no ER or employer contribution for SE/VM/OFW. The SSS contribution is computed based on the SE/VM/OFW monthly income which can easily be seen on the right-most column matching the identified row of you salary range.
