How to Solve Always Available Offline folder not Syncing

Users of Windows computer have option to setup their Sync Center to make a shared network folder to be available offline. In a network, Windows can be set to allow sharing of files and folder resources. This greatly helps in the access of data between computers. The network folder can be used with the access settings to allow certain users have full access, while for others to have limited access like reading only the contents of the shared folder.

Always available offline is an option when you checked on a mapped network share. Click here to learn more in mapping a network folder. Network shares only work when the computer sharing the information is in the network. Users choose to enable Offline option when there is a need to make the files available offline either they will need to bring their work home where they get disconnected to the network. They can continue to work on the files and go back to office and the edited files will be sync to the network share.

There are issues however that a user might encounter: the network share is no longer in sync with other users of the network share. Every edit made does not propagate on the network share. Other users might not be able see the added files.

Here are the steps you can do to fix the sync error.

1. Go to “Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Sync Center”
2. On the left side, click the “Manage offline files” then select “View your Offline files”.
3. Click on “Mapped Network Files”  then right click the drive that is not syncing. Select “Delete offline copy”. Once done, right click again then uncheck ”Always available offline”. Shutdown the computer and turn it back on.
4. This part, we will restore the Mapped Drive. Map the drive that we unmapped. Then right click the mapped drive and select “Always available offline”.
5. Check if the mapped drive is syncing.
